Thiruvananthapuram, July 27 -- This year's Onam Week celebrations organised by the Kerala Tourism Department will be conducted as a completely plastic-free and environment-friendly event, Green Protocol Committee chairman V. Muraleedharan MLA said on Monday.
The Green Protocol will be implemented in coordination with the committees overseeing the Onam procession, food festival, trade fair, infrastructure, and media and publicity activities.
As part of the initiative, the use of thermocol, PVC flex materials and multilayer plastics will be completely prohibited in the construction of floats being prepared by various departments for the Onam procession.
