Lucknow, July 26 -- In a major push to improve livestock care and tackle fodder shortages, the Uttar Pradesh government is accelerating its green fodder campaign across grazing lands, ensuring better nutrition for cattle and greater support for livestock farmers.

According to official data, a total of 61,118.85 hectares of grazing land is available across 58,115 gram panchayats in the state.

Of the 6,287 temporary and permanent cow shelters operating in rural areas, 5,050 shelters have been linked to 10,421.45 hectares of grazing land to ensure the availability of green fodder for cattle. So far, the state government has freed 39,721 hectares of land from encroachment.
