Doddaballapur (Karnataka), Aug. 31 -- In a tragic incident, an elderly woman and her two grandchildren were killed after being hit by a speeding train while crossing railway tracks at Doddaballapur railway station in Bengaluru Rural district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Irfana (46), and her grandchildren Rukiya (13) and Rakiya (8). The incident occurred when the three were on their way to the station to see the children off on a 6 am passenger train to Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh.
The children had arrived at their grandmother's home at Muttur in Doddaballapur from Hindupur during the weekend for their holidays. As they had to return to school on Monday, Irfana woke them up early and took them to the railway station.
