New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith has welcomed the return of the ICC men's 50-over World Cup to Africa, calling it a landmark moment for the continent and the sport.
The 2027 World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, marking the tournament's return to Africa for the first time since 2003, when South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya staged the event together.
Speaking at the launch of the 12 host venues in Johannesburg, Smith, an ICC Hall of Famer, said the continent had waited a long time for another opportunity to host cricket's biggest event.
