New Delhi, Feb. 10 -- The Government has amended the Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in Central Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979 to grant Ex-Servicemen status to officers of the Military Nursing Service (MNS), a move aimed at ensuring parity and welfare for MNS personnel alongside other members of the armed forces, the Department of Personnel and Training said on Tuesday here.
Under the revised rules, the definition of an Ex-Serviceman has been expanded to explicitly include officers who have served in the Military Nursing Service, whether in a combatant or non-combatant capacity.
This brings MNS officers on an equal statutory footing with personnel from the Regular Army, Navy and Air Force for the purpose of post-retirement benefits.
