New Delhi, Sept. 3 -- The Centre today directed NCR states to take firm action against industries allegedly violating pollution norms, with union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav calling for a "zero-tolerance" approach and fixing responsibility for defaults as part of efforts to curb air pollution.
Yadav, while reviewing air quality management plans prepared by Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan, said non-conforming polluting industries must be dealt with firmly. He also called for publicising the names of violators to improve accountability and compliance.
