Panchkula, July 27 -- The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has introduced a draft rule that would require vehicles to be fitted with technology allowing them to communicate with one another, marking a significant step toward smarter roads.
The draft, notified under G.S.R. 665(E), proposes changes to Rule 125Q of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. It has been issued under powers given to the central government by the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and is open for public comments before it is made final.
The proposed rule focuses on Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) communication systems, a technology that lets cars share details like speed and position. This innovation aims to reduce accidents and make roads safer for everyone.
