New Delhi, March 11 -- Amid the evolving tensions in the Persian Gulf region following the Iran-Israel conflict escalation, the Government on Wednesday said it is closely monitoring Indian vessels and seafarers operating in the area while stepping up coordination with diplomatic missions to ensure their safety.
Addressing a press briefing, Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), said a total of 28 Indian-flagged vessels are currently operating in the Persian Gulf region, with authorities keeping constant watch over their movement and the welfare of the crew.
