New Delhi/Dhaka, July 31 -- Amid former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's announcement that she may return to her country by the end of the year, the Indian government has informed a parliamentary committee that the ousted premier who has been in India since August 2024 has not been provided a platform or space to carry out political activities from Indian territory.
In its Action Taken Report on the Ninth Report titled Future of India-Bangladesh Relationship, tabled in the Lok Sabha on June 30, the parliamentary panel chaired by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, also said that Bangladesh's request for Hasina's extradition remains under consideration.
