Mumbai, June 15 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said here on Monday that the quality of school education imparted in government-run zilla parishad (district council) schools is better than 90 per cent of private schools.

Speaking at a zilla parishad (district council) school in neighbouring Raigad district, Fadnavis said, "There was a time when government-run schools had no systems in place, but today when we visit district council schools in Maharashtra, we see that most of these schools are like any private school or sometimes even better than them. I can definitely say that the education in government-tun district council schools is better than 90 per cent of private schools".
