Washington, May 13 -- A Republican push to secure $1 billion in new funding tied to security upgrades around the White House - including protections linked to President Donald Trump's planned East Wing ballroom - is facing growing resistance from Senate Republicans as well as House lawmakers.
The funding request is still alive, but support within the GOP appears to be increasingly shaky, reports Axios.
At the centre of the debate is a proposed $72 billion reconciliation package focused on immigration enforcement and border security, backed by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol spending.
