Hyderabad, May 15 -- union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday said the increase in petrol prices had become unavoidable due to global tensions and ongoing international conflicts.

Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy stated that petroleum prices had risen sharply across several countries, including the USA, Germany, and Japan, and claimed that India had implemented only marginal increases compared to global trends.

He said the Central Government had earlier provided subsidies to reduce the burden on the public and ensure that fuel price hikes did not heavily impact citizens.

However, he maintained that the present situation had compelled the government to take certain decisions in the larger national interest.
