New Delhi, Aug. 3 -- India has added Glaw Lake in Arunachal Pradesh to the list of wetlands of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, taking the country's total number of Ramsar sites to 101, union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav announced on Monday.
Posting on X, Yadav said Glaw Lake is Arunachal Pradesh's first Ramsar Site and described the designation as "a significant milestone" for biodiversity conservation, water and climate security, and sustainable livelihoods.
Located within the Kamlang Tiger Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary in the Eastern Himalayas, Glaw Lake is a freshwater wetland fed by perennial mountain streams.
