Mumbai, July 30 -- In a dramatic resurrection of a political controversy from the archives, the Kalyan Court has issued formal summons to Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and senior leader over a high-profile defamation lawsuit dating back to the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

The court has ordered Thackeray to appear on August 5, with subsequent hearings charting a course for other key respondents.
