Ranchi, Nov. 14 -- Ghatshila has once again reaffirmed its support for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) as party candidate Somesh Chandra Soren secured a decisive victory in the assembly by-election. Soren, son of the late Education Minister Ramdas Soren, defeated BJP candidate Babulal Soren by a margin of 38,524 votes.
The counting of 20 rounds concluded with Somesh Chandra Soren receiving 104,794 votes, while Babulal Soren secured 66,270 votes. JLKM's Ramdas Murmu finished in third place.
The bypoll was one of the eight held across the country and witnessed an impressive voter turnout of 74.63 percent. Women participated enthusiastically, contributing significantly to the high turnout.
