Accra, June 16 -- Ghanaian football fans have expressed optimism that their team can follow the examples set by Cote d'Ivoire and Morocco in their opening matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying Ghana must beat or draw with Panama if it is to progress to the round of 32.
Cote d'Ivoire defeated Ecuador 1-0, while Morocco drew 1-1 with five-time world champion Brazil.
Abel Manomey, a lecturer with the Department of Sports and Physical Education at the University of Ghana, said that despite being in a tricky group, the Black Stars have what it takes to overcome Panama in their opening match.
