Chennai, July 28 -- The FIDE World Championship match 2026 between reigning World Champion D.Gukesh of India and Challenger Javokhir Sindarov will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from November 25 to December 15.
Both Gukesh, representing India, and Sindarov, representing Uzbekistan, will be 20 years old when the event begins, making it the youngest World Championship contest in history, FIDE announced on Tuesday.
Welcoming the announcement, FIDE Interim President Viswanathan Anand of India said "Several countries expressed a strong interest in hosting the FIDE World Championship Match, including India, the United States and Cyprus.
