Jaipur, April 18 -- Senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot termed as "surprising and unfortunate" the order of the Allahabad High Court for an FIR and probe into the allegations of British citizenship against Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
Reacting to the order, Gehlot said that earlier, in July 2025, the Allahabad High Court, and way back in 2019, the Supreme Court, had dismissed petitions on this matter.
In the given situation order for a probe by the police or by the CBI (a central agency) is "surprising and unfortunate", that only puts the executive (wing of government) in extra work burden, he wrote on 'X' on Saturday.
