Guwahati, Feb. 8 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday alleged that Elizabeth Colebourn Gogoi, the wife of state Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi, has been closely associated with Ali Tauqueer Sheikh, a known anti-India activist based in Pakistan.

Addressing a press meet here, the Chief Minister said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam police has substantial evidence that proves the links between Sheikh and Elizabeth Gogoi and the Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi.

The Assam Chief Minister said that Elizabeth Colebourn Gogoi first joined the Lead Pakistan organisation led by Ali Tauqueer Sheikh in Pakistan and was shifted to India in 2011 to work in Lead India, which was funded by Lead Pakistan.
