Kolkata, Oct. 29 -- Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) on Thursday advanced its largest commercial shipbuilding export order with the keel laying of the fifth Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) for German shipowner Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG, strengthening the Kolkata-based shipyard's foothold in the global commercial shipping market.
The keel laying marks the first vessel under the second of three contracts between GRSE and the German company for a total of 12 CORAL 7500 deadweight-tonne (DWT) MPVs. The ceremony was attended by senior officials of GRSE, Carsten Rehder and the classification society DNV.
