Pune, Aug. 27 -- Congress leader and senior spokesperson Gopal Dada Tiwari today said that Lord Ganesha represents the remover of obstacles and the giver of wisdom.
Speaking at an event organised by Youth Congress office-bearer Kunal Kale Mitra Pariwar at Navi Peth, where Ganesh idols were distributed for just Re 1, Tiwari said that the true need of society today is not merely idol worship, but enlightened thought and moral reasoning.
"Our devotion to our faith and deities must go hand in hand with respect for other religions. When Lokmanya Tilak and Bhau Rangari initiated the concept of public Ganesh festivals, it was to unite citizens, spread awareness, and strengthen the freedom movement," he said.
