Shimla, March 26 -- BJP MP and former Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday criticised the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that the party has failed to fulfil its poll promises and is instead increasing the financial burden on the public through taxes and rising fuel costs.

Thakur said the Congress had come to power in 2022 based on "10 guarantees", but claimed that none of the commitments had been implemented so far.

He alleged that instead of providing relief, the government had imposed additional financial pressures on residents.

The BJP leader said the State government had increased value-added tax (VAT) on diesel soon after assuming office, taking it to Rs 10.40 per litre.
