Paris, May 31 -- France has requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council in response to Israel's military operation in southern Lebanon, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on Sunday.
Speaking on BFM TV, Barrot confirmed, "I have requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council," and described Israel's actions as unacceptable, calling the incursion a "serious mistake." He added that nothing can justify the continuation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon or its advance deeper into Lebanese territory.
