Aizawl, March 5 -- The Mizoram government has issued four winery licences and permitted the establishment of wineries for the manufacture of wine and beer in the state, Excise and Narcotics Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar informed the Mizoram Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Replying to a query in the House, Hmar said the licences have been granted to four entities to operate wineries in different parts of the state.
The licence holders include Champhai Grape Growers Society, which operates the Champhai Winery at Tlangsam in Champhai district, and the Hnahlan Grape Farming and Processing Co-operative Society Ltd., which runs the Hnahlan Winery at Hnahlan village, also in Champhai district.
