Auraiya/Kannauj, Feb. 19 -- Three people, including a woman, died after their car fell into a canal in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district late at night on Wednesday.
The incident occurred near Turukpur village under Achhalda police station limits, where the Lower Ganga Canal passes beneath the Bundelkhand Expressway.
The car was reportedly heading toward Etawah when it plunged into the canal, police disclosed on Thursday.
Villagers spotted the submerged vehicle in the canal on Thursday morning and informed the police. Station House Officer Pankaj Mishra arrived at the scene with his team. After a strenuous rescue operation, police managed to pull the car out of the canal. Three bodies were recovered from inside the vehicle.
