Bhubaneswar, July 29 -- At least four people have died and more than two lakh people across six districts of Odisha have been affected by floods triggered by incessant rainfall caused by a depression over the Bay of Bengal, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said on Wednesday.
The Minister said all four fatalities were reported from Dhenkanal district.
He said the floods have affected 44 blocks, 233 gram panchayats and 748 villages in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur, disrupting normal life and causing widespread damage.
As part of the relief and rescue operations, the state government has evacuated more than 30,000 people from flood-hit areas to safer locations. A total ...
