Kolkata, June 6 -- A special court remanded former Trinamool Congress MLA Saokat Molla to 14 days custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the Bhangar blast case on Saturday, a day after the central agency arrested him.
Producing Molla before the court, the NIA argued that though he was no longer an MLA but he remained an influential figure and could interfere with the investigation if released.
Accepting the agency's submission, the court granted NIA custody.
According to the investigators, preliminary findings indicate that Molla had allegedly issued several instructions over phone following the explosion in Bhangar.
