Kolkata, July 11 -- : Former Trinamool Congress MLA Nirmal Ghosh, who largely remained out of the public eye after being questioned by the CBI in connection with the RG Kar rape and murder case and whose name has recently surfaced in a lottery-related case, made a surprise appearance at a meeting of the Ritabrata Banerjee-led rebel Trinamool faction on Saturday.
However, the faction's leadership quickly distanced itself from Ghosh, asserting that no decision had been taken regarding his induction.
The Ritabrata camp held an organisational meeting on Saturday to finalise its district committees, a day after announcing its state leadership. But, Nirmal Ghosh's presence drew attention as he has kept a low profile in recent months.
