Augusta, Sept. 24 -- Former Maine Governor Paul LePage has called on federal immigration authorities to halt the deportation of his son's father-in-law, saying the man should be allowed to remain in the US as he has a valid work permit.
LePage, a conservative Republican running for a seat in the US House of Representatives, made immigration and border policy a central part of his campaign. But, according to The Washington Post, he has objected to the removal proceedings involving his relative.
