Bengaluru, May 25 -- Former Karnataka fast bowler SL Akshay, who represented the state in domestic cricket and was part of the Ranji Trophy-winning squad of 2014-15, passed away on Sunday after suffering a heart attack while playing a KSCA third division match.

He was 39.

Akshay was representing Sapphire Cricket Club in a Karnataka State Cricket Association fixture when he complained of uneasiness after bowling four overs. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead despite emergency medical attention.
