Kathmandu, Sept. 12 -- Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki is to be appointed Nepal's Prime Minister, becoming the country's first female executive head.

The meeting held between former Chief Justice Karki and President Ramchandra Paudel facilitated by Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel took a decision to this effect, according to a source at Sheetal Niwas.

She will be sworn in as the Prime Minister tonight.

"President Paudel is making preparation to appoint former Chief Justice as the Prime Minister of Nepal. She will be sworn in as at 9 pm," said Pokharel, Nepal Khabar reported.

"After taking the oath, Karki will form a small interim government. The first meeting of the government will dissolve the parliament," said Pokharel.
