Kolkata, Sept. 6 -- The West Bengal government has intensified inspections of food establishments across the state ahead of the festive season, with a special Food Safety Week being observed from September 1 to 7.
Food safety officials conducted inspections at the food courts of South City Mall and Acropolis Mall on Sunday as part of the drive.
Between September 1 and 3, officials inspected 2,337 establishments across the state and detected major irregularities at 2,056 locations.
A total of 1,277 food samples were collected during the three days and sent for testing.
Officials conducted 906 inspections on September 1, 824 on September 2 and 607 on September 3, with 428, 473 and 376 samples collected respectively.
