Rio de Janeiro, Feb. 19 -- Brazilian pair Joao Fonseca and Marcelo Melo delighted the home crowd with a dominant 6-4, 6-0 win over second seeds Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni to advance at the Rio Open.

Competing as wild cards in the ATP 500 tournament, the Brazilian duo produced an impressive serving display, landing 82 per cent of their first serves and winning 84 per cent of those points, according to the ATP Tour website.

The experienced Melo, who is 23 years older than Fonseca, combined effectively with the youngster to overpower their higher-seeded opponents.
