Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 24 -- Kerala Women and Child Development Minister Bindu Krishna on Wednesday inaugurated a statewide free flu vaccination programme for children in adoption and child care centres functioning under the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare and the caregivers looking after them.
The programme is aimed at improving immunity among children and caregivers and preventing influenza and associated health complications. Newborn babies will be covered in the first phase.
Inaugurating the programme, the Minister said the emergence of new viruses and fungi was posing major challenges to the medical sector.
