Solapur, Sept. 11 -- Torrential overnight rainfall of 118.3 millimetres has caused a flood-like situation in both Solapur city and rural areas of Maharashtra, disrupting normal life due to severe waterlogging in low-lying areas.

According to local sources, the heavy rainfall caused water to enter houses up to two to three feet in height in several areas, including Akalkot Road, Mallikarjun Nagar, Juna Vidi Gharkul, Mitra Nagar and Shelgi, creating panic among residents. The 256 Gala area also reported water ingress into residential properties. The situation was worsened by overflowing drainage chambers, which resulted in smelly water entering homes and forcing many residents to remain awake throughout the night.
