Pune, March 30 -- A thought-provoking discussion on the relevance of traditional time theory in Indian classical music took center stage at the 'Ragprabha' music festival, organized by the Dr. Prabha Atre Foundation.
The symposium, themed 'Freedom from the Concept of Raga Time Cycles', highlighted the need to reassess rigid adherence to time-specific raga presentation in the context of changing times, a release stated on Monday.
The panel featured eminent musicians and scholars including Pandit Arun Kashalkar, Dr. Alka Deo-Marulkar, Pandit Sajan Mishra, Pandit Srinivas Joshi, Dr. Keshavchaitanya Kunte, and Dr. Sushruti Santhanam.
The session was moderated by noted harmonium player Suyog Kundalkar.
