Abu Dhabi, Aug. 14 -- Two vessels operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) were attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday evening, the UAE state-owned energy company said.
ADNOC said no injuries were reported and that the situation was under control. The state owned company described the strikes as acts of piracy and warning that they posed a threat to freedom of navigation and global energy security.
In a statement carried by the UAE's state news agency WAM, the company stressed the importance of protecting seafarers and ensuring freedom of navigation and maritime security in the strategically important waterway.
