Bhadradri Kothagudem, March 20 -- Five youths went missing in the Godavari River after entering it for a bath at Koonavaram, a border area near Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, on Friday.
According to police, seven engineering students from SRM College, Amaravati, had gone to the river on Koonavaram Road. Unaware of the depth, five of them were swept away, while the remaining two managed to reach the riverbank safely and alerted locals.
Following the incident, local residents initiated rescue efforts using boats before informing the authorities. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched an intensive search operation.
