Nagpur, June 13 -- : A striped male tiger was found dead in the South Umred Forest Range near Nagpur on Saturday morning, prompting forest authorities to launch an investigation into the cause of death.

According to forest officials, the carcass of the tiger, estimated to be around five years old, was discovered during routine patrolling in the Chanoda area under the Umred forest division.

Senior officials rushed to the spot after the incident came to light.

Officials said the post-mortem and related procedures were conducted as per the guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) in the presence of veterinary experts, forest department personnel and authorised representatives.
