Bhubaneshwar, Feb. 22 -- At least four policemen were killed and three others seriously injured in Odisha's Jharsuguda district during wee hours on Sunday when the SUV in which the cops were on patrolling duty collided head on with an iron ore-laden trailer coming from the opposite direction, police said.
The road accident occurred near the Sadar police station junction. Impact of the collision was severe with the SUV badly mangled. Locals and fire brigade personnel extricated the bodies after a vigorous exercise.
Three injured policemen undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital are stated to be critical, police said.
Reckless over-speeding driving and attempts to overtake resulted in the road accident fatalities.
