Shimla, July 28 -- Five persons including a three-month old infant were killed in a road accident near Lahar at Banikhet on the Pathankot-Chamba National Highway in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district on Tuesday morning.
The victims including four members of a family died after the vehicle they were travelling plunged 400 meters into the deep gorge.
According to officials, police and local administration teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and launched rescue and relief operations.
The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination, while the exact cause of the accident is being investigated.
Police have registered a case and further investigation into the road accident is underway.
