Simdega (Jharkhand), March 6 -- Five people were killed and more than 17 injured after a passenger bus travelling from Simdega in Jharkhand to Kunkuri in neighbouring Chhattisgarh overturned in Jashpur district on Friday morning.
Officials said the accident occurred around 9.45 am near Godaamba village under the Kardega outpost area when the bus reportedly suffered brake failure while descending a slope.
The Anmol passenger bus (CG 14G 0263) had left Kurdeg in Simdega and was heading towards Kunkuri with more than two dozen passengers on board, many of them from Jharkhand.
Eyewitnesses said panic spread after the conductor shouted that the brakes had failed when a passenger asked the driver to stop the vehicle.
