Mandya (Karnataka), June 25 -- Five people, including four women of a family and their driver, drowned in the Cauvery River while attempting to take selfies at the popular Muttathi tourist spot in Karnataka's Mandya district, police said on Thursday.
The victims were identified as Vijayamma (52), her daughters Priyanka and Shwetha (38), Chaitra (20), and car driver Mahesh (30), all residents of Jagadapura village in Channapatna taluk near Bengaluru.
According to police, the family had travelled to the Kabbalu temple to attend a traditional feast and offer prayers before visiting the Muttathi tourist destination in Malavalli taluk on Wednesday evening.
