Ranchi, Feb. 1 -- Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan has suspended five police officers and other personnel following allegations of their involvement in illegal gambling activities and the protection of brown sugar trade in the state capital.
Official sources said the suspended personnel have been accused of facilitating gambling operations and allegedly accepting money to provide protection for the sale of the banned narcotic brown sugar.
The action comes in the wake of two separate videos that recently went viral on social media, triggering serious concerns about police conduct.
