Kendrapada, Aug. 13 -- Police on Thursday arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a woman at Sukarpada under Nischintakoili police limits, while raids are continuing to apprehend the remaining accused.
According to police, the woman, a resident of the Kendrapada Sadar area, was returning to Kendrapada from Bhubaneswar in a car with her male friend, a resident of Fatehgarh in Nayagarh district, when the incident occurred late on Tuesday night.
A group of four to six miscreants allegedly intercepted the vehicle, smashed its window and assaulted the woman's male companion. They then allegedly dragged the woman to a nearby abandoned house and gang raped her.
