Shillong, March 25 -- The first-ever Shillong International Film Festival (SIFF) kick-started on Wednesday at the Convention Centre, marking a significant step to advance Meghalaya's creative economy.

The three-day event is organised by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and National Film Development Corporation of India.

"The festival serves as a crucial platform for establishing Meghalaya as a preferred destination for the international film fraternity," a government official said.
