Ranchi, May 13 -- Jharkhand is set to establish the country's first dedicated Human-Elephant Conflict Research Centre at the Palamu Tiger Reserve to study and develop solutions for rising human-elephant conflicts.
State forest officials said around 20 acres of land between Palamu Fort and Kamaldah Lake in the reserve area has been identified for the proposed centre.
The research facility will study behavioural patterns of elephants, conflict triggers, movement patterns and human responses through scientific analysis and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based systems.
Officials said the centre would function as an integrated research and decision-support system to address increasing human-elephant conflict cases across the country.
