Bengaluru, July 10 -- Karnataka will stage the traditional coastal buffalo race Kambala in Mysuru for the first time as part of the 2026 Dasara celebrations, in a major move to broaden the cultural appeal of the state's flagship festival and showcase the diversity of Karnataka's heritage.
The proposal to hold a two-day Kambala event on October 18 and 19 was discussed at a high-level Dasara review meeting chaired by Chief Minister DK Shivakumar at Vidhana Soudha on Friday. The meeting also deliberated on providing a separate allocation to organise the event, which is expected to become a new attraction during the world-famous festivities.
