Chennai, July 15 -- In a landmark event signalling a new era of bilateral trade, the first commercial consignments valued at USD 4,46,046 were officially flagged off from Chennai on Wednesday as the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) came into force.

The shipments were flagged off by Dr. Sutapa Choudhury, British Deputy High Commissioner for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Keralam and Ms Rajalakshmi Devaraj, Zonal Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, Chennai.
