Hyderabad, Sept. 6 -- union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday unveiled India's first 'Ahimsa Stambham' (Pillar of Non-violence) at Miyapur in Hyderabad, describing it as a symbol that would carry the message of peace, unity and non-violence to future generations.
Kishan Reddy appreciated Jain community women for spearheading the initiative and said the motto inscribed on the pillar, "Parasparopagraho Jivanam" (Souls render service to one another), held immense relevance in today's troubled world.
He said Ahimsa was not limited to avoiding physical violence but also involved practising non-violence in one's speech, behaviour and thoughts. "Non-violence is not a sign of weakness but the supreme strength," he said.
